Autosomal dominant: This includes, myotonic dystrophy, facioscapulohumeral dystrophy, and oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy. With this type of faulty gene, the severity of the disease can vary significantly between cases. As it’s dominant, only one defective gene needs to be present, and the person will be affected. Therefore, any child from an affected parent will have a fifty percent chance of developing muscular dystrophy.
