How to take CBD

Hemp Leaves used to make pure CBD oil

With its reported success in relieving anxiety, pain, insomnia and arthritis, to name just a few, it’s not surprising to learn that the popularity of CBD is increasing by the day. If you think this natural chemical compound could be an option for you, we’re here to point you in the right direction.

What is CBD?

First things first – let’s get back to basics. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural chemical compound derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant. Two varieties of this plant are marijuana and hemp. In the UK, our CBD comes from the hemp plant which contains very low levels (less than 0.3%) of THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana.

With its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, there are many purported benefits of CBD. It is used to treat pain, anxiety, depression and sleep disorders and also a popular ingredient in skin care, treating acne, psoriasis, eczema and rosacea.

With so many products on the market, from oils and capsules to creams and vape oils, the choice can be a little overwhelming. There are various methods in which you can take CBD and each delivers cannabidiol to your body in a different way.

Sublingually

In the sublingual method, oil is placed under the tongue. Left to sit under the tongue for around 30 seconds, it then naturally absorbs into the body, by-passing the digestive system.  This is perhaps one of the most effective ways to take CBD, allowing maximum absorption and letting the compound in to your bloodstream quickly. As the body can absorb additional compounds more easily when nutrients are presents, it can be a good idea to take oil after a meal.

At ULU, we offer a range of organic and pure, full spectrum CBD oils containing between 5% and 25% CBD. 5% drops are the ideal way to introduce CBD into your daily routine. Start slowly, with one to three drops, three times a day. As you progress, you might decide to modify your dose or frequency.

ULU CBD INFOGRAPH GUIDE

Orally

Ingesting CBD capsules, tablets or gummies is perhaps the easiest and most convenient way to introduce CBD into your daily routine. They are simple to take and a good option if you want to maintain a consistent level of cannabidiol in your body. Oral products work on your whole body so they’re great if you’re taking CBD for sleep issues, anxiety or arthritis but not ideal if you’re trying to focus on a sore knee or back ache.

Our vegan ULU CBD capsules contain the highest quality pure CBD. The gel tablets are easy to swallow and contain 10mg of CBD per capsule. Alternatively, ULU CBD chewing gum gives you the benefit of CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties while also maintaining tooth mineralisation.

Topically

If you want to reach a specific area on the skin, the best idea is to use CBD topically applying an oil, serum or cream, directly on to the target area. This is the chosen method for sore muscles or joints and for skin care. At ULU, our CBD infused range contains organic and EU-sourced ingredients combined with a high concentration of our premium cannabidiol.

ULU 5% Glow CBD Face Cream is a popular choice for those looking to boost a natural, youthful glow. It gently targets problem areas without overwhelming your skin.

Meanwhile, those looking to soothe and combat muscle fatigue will enjoy our ULU 1% Muscle Rub with organic cannabidiol, premium natural ingredients, extracts and alpha-hydroxy acids.

Inhaling

Many people choose to inhale the cannabidiol vapour using a compatible vaping device. When CBD is inhaled, it enters the lungs and rapidly passes to the bloodstream, so this method is often chosen for its short-term relief of anxiety and stress. Longer-term benefits can include pain-relief, immune system support and mood boost.

Our ULU organic CBD vaping e-liquids are certified nicotine free and available in a variety of liquid flavours including menthol, blueberry, cinnamon and vanilla. We use a 5% concentration of cannabidiol in our CBD vaping products, much higher than some of our competitors.

Which should I choose?

When deciding which method of consumption is best for you, the key is to focus on your end goal. Think about what you are trying to improve and select the most appropriate method, helping the CBD to reach its target.

If, for example, you would like to reduce anxiety, you might decide to try our ULU CBD oils, capsules or chewing gum. Alternatively, to relieve acne, a topical application through our skin care range would be a good choice.

Many people benefit from a combination of methods. We recommend starting with a low dose and keeping a record to track your progress. By adopting this habit, you will be able to find the strength and dosage that best suits you.
